2009 Pinktober Event at the Lubbock Civic Center. 

Taken in 2010 at the Wind Museum in Lubbock.  The last time I went out there this wind mill wasn’t there.   Not sure why!

Art Cars exhibit….2009 Lubbock Arts Festival.  This van is covered with old cameras.  The design is one of the old instant cameras like my Mom had that I used from time to time.  LOL!!! 

Big Texan Steak Ranch off I-40 in Amarillo.  I was there for my son.  He was in the NICU in Amarillo so I spent a little time sight seeing and waymarking while I was there.  The photo was taken in 2010.

The bear was outside a store in Red River, New Mexico.  The trip with with Mom for the annual women’s trip.  Mom’s group of ladies went every year to the mountains.  They would have Christmas and spend one night all together doing silly things like Karaoke.

Smallest visitor for the Dia de los Muertos Procession on October, 2011.  Don’t know why they had to take their dog along on this event.  You have to consider the source.  I know him from the news stories and when he runs for office.  It was one of his friend’s dog.  Interesting people to say the least. 

This was on the key in the middle of campus.  The cyclists use it for practice.  They were not just going in circles.  They were using the whole key.  Find the map of Texas Tech campus and you will understand what I mean.  :) 

This was the night before a home game.  Will Rogers and Soapsuds are always draped in red during home games.  The only time they are draped in black is when there has been a death or national event like 9/11 has occurred.

Downtown Lubbock looking off to the East.  This is the main entrance to campus which is off University at Broadway.  The church is St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.  It is a little further away that it seems.  The NTS building is the tallest in Lubbock and really old.  It was here during the 1970 tornado. 

Photo #322: Belted Kingfisher – I saw two this day and both on signs.  LOL!!!  The other sign was a Flood Gauge in Mackenzie Park.  Thank goodness this one appeared when it did since I missed the first one when I tried to get a photo.  This one was in the Mae Simmons area of the Canyon Lakes System in Lubbock, Texas. 

Photo #324:  Pair of Pelicans on the last lake of the Canyon Lakes System.  These are not tagged like the one I saw at Leroy Elmore Park off Quaker and the South Loop.  Surprised to see this pair on this lake.  I only knew of the one pelican in the area.  

Photo #325:  When we swung back around to the entrance of the lake we spotted the pelicans on shore this time.  They watched us for a long time and then got tired of worrying.  We were in the car and a distances away from them.  The baby was asleep in the car seat so I kept the car running to keep him happy.  Long day being Thanksgiving and all.  We took a drive to get him to fall asleep since he wasn’t going to sleep with all the noise at Grandma’s house.  

Photo #327: This is the dam area of the last lake on the Canyon Lakes System.  This flows back where they  have a railroad bridge.  This area is affectionately known as “Hell’s Gates”.  It is beautiful, but don’t go walking alone.  The police monitor this area at times.  All kinds of things go on in this area.  Also have to watch for bike riders….not motorcycles….mountain bikes. 

Photo #328:  This feathered friend appeared over at the first part of the Canyon Lakes System.  I moved the car as close as I could to the lamp post near the curb.  He didn’t mind until I got almost under it.  He few over to the lamp post a few feet away.  I tried to get closer and he wouldn’t have it so he flew back in the other direction.  :)

Photo #330:  The feathered friend yet again!  He was not happy with the situation.  He watched me closely. I was in the car and just poked the camera out the window to get the shots.  I know if I got out he would have been gone sooner.  I think he could hear the radio that I kept on for the baby.  

Photo taken during the dancers presentation at the LHUCA for Dia de los Muertos Procession in October, 2011.  Normally they celebrate Dia de los Muertos on November 1st and 2nd.  They schedule this procession on a Friday before to attract more people to the event.

This was taken in Lakeridge subdivision in Lubbock, Texas.  Do you see the Santa looking out the window. Across the street they had a Santa looking out their window also.  Dueling Santa’s….LOL!!!
